Getting a free credit report online is one of the easiest things you can do, since there are so many sites that the various credit agencies do not want you to know about where you can get a free credit report. A good credit score can get you lots of things, like better deals on loans, but how can it get you a better credit card?
How does my credit score help me get a better credit card?
Your credit score is a measure of how creditworthy banks and other lenders think you are. So, if you are not very creditworthy and have a low credit score then it is advisable to make sure that your credit card offer is a good offer.
What type of credit cards are good?
You want one with a low interest rate so that you spend less money paying it back. Similarly, you want one where you have a high maximum monthly amount, and this is where your credit score comes in. If you have a low credit score, banks will approach giving a credit card where you can borrow a lot of money with trepidation. If they do give it to you, you need to be wary because it will probably have a high interest rate and the bank will try to ensnare you in a trap where you will be in debt to them for years, and the high interest rate will be so high that you won’t be able to easily get out of debt.
What about retail credit cards?
Retail credit cards are issued as promotions by stores to encourage you to shop there. They are usually coupled with discounts. In general, they are issued by clothing and appliance stores, but these stores also issue discount cards (basically the same as Safeway Club cards but for clothing and appliance stores) so be careful when you sign up for an in-store card; know which type of card you are getting so that you do not accidentally get a retail credit card.
